  • This delegate is presenting an abstract at this event.
Tee-Kheang Ng received a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in Biochemistry from National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2008. His undergraduate research in Assoc. Professor Roohaida Othman’s group focussed on the recombinant expression of a putative phytochelatin synthase involved in heavy metal detoxification in algae. He then spent a year as Research Assistant in a molecular mycology laboratory at the same university headed by Assoc. Professor Abdul Munir Abdul Murad and worked on characterising a novel chitinase enzyme for glucosamine recovery from industrial chitin waste. Tee-Kheang is currently a final year PhD student in protein engineering at the Australian National University, working under Professor David Ollis. His research is focused on the directed evolution of methyl parathion hydrolase, an enzyme that has shown potential in pesticide bioremediation. He is particularly interested in enhancing the stability and expanding the substrate specificity of the enzyme.
