Mr Sandip Kamath is a PhD student at the Molecular Immunology Group at James Cook University, Townsville. He completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy from Mumbai University, India in 2005 and a Masters of Biotechnology from RMIT University, Melbourne in 2008. His PhD thesis is on the identification and molecular characterization of novel allergens in Australian shellfish species and impact of heat processing on their allergenicity. The main objective of his PhD topic is to improve the current shellfish allergy diagnostics, by creating an Asian-Pacific specific allergen panel, making it more reflective of the seafood species consumed in Australia
